Angela M Miney, BA
Family Partner
About Angela M Miney
Angela Miney is the UF Health Pediatric Pulmonary Center (PPC) Family Partner, funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau. She comes to this role as the parent of a young adult who has a chronic health condition. In employing a Family Partner, the PPC wished to ensure that its goal of training leaders in the interdisciplinary, community-based, culturally competent care of children with chronic pulmonary diseases would be patient and family centered. In addition, involving patients and families at the institutional level enriches discussions and decisions that ultimately effect patients and their families. Angela has worked with leadership at UF Health to ensure the patient voice is incorporated into systems improvement from the bedside to the boardroom. She mentors students and faculty on patient and family centered care as part of the PPC’s core curriculum. She has presented at national and local conferences. Angela works collaboratively with the Family Partners in the other Pediatric Pulmonary Center Training Programs around the country to develop a common family leader curriculum. She is currently coordinating with Florida Title V Children’s Medical Services to develop the Florida Family Leaders’ Network, whose goals are to provide networking and training opportunities for family leaders. The PPC also offers a Family traineeship focused on firsthand experience of developing the role of the Family Partner specifically in the PPC, and broadly throughout healthcare systems.
Angela began her career in Human Resources in Ireland and subsequently spent a number of years living and working in sub Saharan and West African countries. She and her husband have two daughters.
